FAQs
The IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory) measures how individuals and organizations navigate cultural differences and commonalities. It assesses developmental orientation and provides a roadmap toward inclusive, interculturally competent behavior.
The HBDI® (Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument) focuses on how we think—our preferences for processing information, making decisions, and solving problems.
Together, they offer a complementary toolkit: IDI supports self-awareness and cultural fluency; HBDI® builds cognitive agility and team effectiveness. I integrate these through two proprietary approaches: the Identity-to-Impact™ Pathway and the Whole Brain, Whole Team™ Method.
I use the IDI to guide leaders through what I call the Identity-to-Impact™ Pathway—a process that helps professionals connect who they are to how they lead.
In this process, we move from:
Reflection: Exploring how identity and lived experience shape perception
Shift: Naming growth areas and navigating discomfort
Action: Embedding intercultural awareness into decision-making and team culture
Self-awareness isn’t a soft skill—it’s the cornerstone of inclusive leadership. When people understand themselves better, they lead with greater empathy, navigate conflict skillfully, and create psychologically safe spaces for others to thrive.
Not the way I use it. HBDI® isn’t about personality—it’s about thinking preferences, and I’ve developed a unique approach to applying it called the Whole Brain, Whole Team™ Method.
This method doesn’t stop at understanding quadrants—it teaches teams to:
-
Recognize how cognitive preferences shape power, inclusion, and communication
-
Design meetings, projects, and team norms that honor diverse ways of processing
-
Lead with “thinking respect” as a foundation for psychological safety and collaboration
It’s a practical, equity-centered framework for designing smarter, more human-centered teams.
Teams that integrate IDI and HBDI® insights consistently report:
-
Fewer communication breakdowns
-
More innovative and inclusive solutions
-
Greater clarity in decision-making
-
Stronger trust and team cohesion
For companies navigating change, complexity, or growth—this translates directly into better outcomes.
